The City of Janesville has issued a Winter Weather Emergency going into effect at 2pm Tuesday.
A winter weather emergency means all parked vehicles must be removed from city streets until snow and ice operations are complete.
A release from the city says with prior snow and ice accumulation and a period of deep freeze, residential streets have hardpacked snow and ice which are breaking up with warmer temps, so they’ll use the opportunity to clean up streets and gutter lines to prevent flooding.
Due to the late notification of the emergency, the Janesville Police Department will not be issuing citations during the event, but they still ask for vehicles to be removed from city streets.
