DATCAP telling property owners to be wary of shady contractors after Evansville tornado

The Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade, and Consumer protection is warning those impacted by this week’s storms to be on the lookout for sketchy contractors they call “Storm Chasers”.
Division of Consumer Protection Administrator Michelle Reinen says they recommend property owners be skeptical of door to door repair crews who use aggressive and high-pressure sales tactics to try and get them to sign a contract.
Reinen says property owners with storm damage are encouraged to make a list and take photos of damages like missing shingles and cracks in walls, and then they should talk to trusted sources like friends and insurance agents for recommendations on contractors they can trust.
