Rock County’s Ad Hoc Committee on Passenger Rail Development has been extended until the end of the year after a county board vote last week.

District 17 Supervisor Kim Schneider was one of two supervisors who pushed for a postponement on the vote, voicing concerns about financial obligations and making a decision before a new county board is in place after the April election.

District 5 Supervisor Bill Wilson says the purpose of the committee is to gather information, and if there is no committee there will be no information and the next county board won’t have what they need to make a good decision.

The ad hoc committee will remain active until Dec. 31 and then board members may reauthorize the continuation of the committee.
