
The State Patrol is helping investigate a fatal traffic crash in Janesville. Police say a resident first reported a sport utility vehicle speeding northbound on North Oakhill Avenue near Linden Avenue a little after 6:30 p.m. Thursday. A responding officer was unable to locate the vehicle. A news release indicates around 7:13 p.m. a patrol officer observed the suspect vehicle disregard a red traffic signal on North Parker Drive and accelerate southbound from Blackbridge Road weaving in and out of traffic. The officer terminated a pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle. Police say a rollover crash on South Pearl Street near West Court Street was reported a short time later. The vehicle had crashed into a building and utility pole. The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the victim’s name at a later date.
