The Red Cross is assisting residents of three apartment units who were displaced by a weekend fire on Beloit’s east side.  The Beloit Fire Department reports on Facebook, the fire occurred about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Copeland Avenue.  Officials say a police officer, first on the scene, used a ladder to rescue an individual from the roof during the fire.  The Town of Beloit, South Beloit, and Janesville fire departments also responded. The cause is under investigation.
