Despite opening in December of 2019, a bridge in Janesville is looking a little worse for wear.

Motorists traveling over the Milwaukee Street bridge in Janesville may have noticed what looks like sections of pavement that have crumbled into gravel.

City Engineer Brad Reents says it’s actually a polymer overlay coating the the City uses to protect bridges, and it’s the first thing that chips after a winter of plow operations.

Reents says the City is working to get the replacement of the polymer overlay coating on the schedule.

Reents says the City of Janesville has used the same polymer overlay on other bridges included the Jackson Street bridge, Bellrichard bridge, and Blackbridge Road bridge.
