Beloit man accused of punching elderly mother

Cash bond is set at $1,000 for a 46-year-old Beloit man accused of punching his 71-year-old mother in the head five times over a political disagreement.
Matthew Gastonguay made appeared before Rock County Court Commissioner Jack Hoag this week on charges of physical abuse of an elderly person and disorderly conduct.
In addition to the cash bail, Hoag ordered that Gastonguay have no contact with his victim, not possess any weapons, and maintain absolute sobriety.
Gastonguay has a history of violence, according to court records, including sexual assault of a child in Illinois in 2004, battery as a hate crime in 2007, and aggravated battery in 2011.
