Officials with the Rock County Children’s Museum will have to find another way to raise $500,000 after the Rock County Board of Supervisors vote down funding for the project.

The resolution fell 10 votes short of the 18 votes it needed to pass.

It would have re-allocated ARPA funding from the Small Business Grant Fund to the museum group.

The County Board did pass a reworked resolution that originally would have limited diversity, equity and inclusion training for Rock County employees. A dramatically reworded resolution flips the first version on its head by reaffirming that the county strives to ensure equal opportunities for all people.

The rebooted resolution passed in a landslide, 23-2 vote.

The board tabled another resolution — one that would have added more oversight at the Rock Haven nursing home.

The resolutions on equity and Rock Haven oversight were both originally introduced by former Rock County supervisor Mike Zoril. Zoril lost a re-election bid April 2, and is no longer on the county board.
