Janesville police arrest man wanted by Jefferson County Sherriff’s for attempted homicide

A 44-year-old Janesville man is under arrest for attempted first degree intentional homicide.

According to a release, Janesville police were advised of Alfonso Jarrett having an outstanding warrant through the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office for first degree intentional homicide that was issued on April 22nd.

The release says over the course of multiple days, officers checked multiple addresses and conducted surveillance, and they were finally able to gather enough information on Jarrett’s whereabouts.

Janesville police say at about 2:47am Saturday morning, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle near the intersection of East Racine Street and South Main Street, and Jarrett was a passenger in the vehicle and he was taken into custody without incident.

Jarrett was also arrested for possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, he was then turned over to Jefferson County authorities.
