An aeronautics competition for college-level pilots happening at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport this week is expected to generate an economic impact of more than $500,000.
Janesville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Christine Rebout says 600 students from 45 different flight schools around the country will be in Janesville until Saturday for SAFECON.
This event, organized by The National Intercollegiate Flying Association, offers a platform for aspiring aviators to demonstrate their skills in various competitions while emphasizing aviation safety and excellence.
While the event is not open to the public and there is no viewing available at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport, Airport Park at 1020 West Knilans Road offers the best opportunity for the general public to witness these pilots in action.
