Janesville City Manager thinks it could take at least five years for the purchase and cleanup of the former General Motors assembly plant site to be complete.
Kevin Lahner says Commercial Development Company and the City are both currently working on getting appraisals of the property.
Lahner says the City is working at going after grants for the project, largely driven by the need for environmental cleanup.
The City announced in February it was moving to acquire the site under the condemnation statute.
