The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating a shooting death involving a Beloit police officer.
A news release reports Beloit officers found a woman who had been stabbed, while they were responding to a home near the 2000 block of Frederick Street on the city’s far west side about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Officers say they encountered a person with an “edged weapon” who was making violent threats. The release says one officer used a “less lethal” option before another officer fired their gun. The suspect died at the scene. Police did not release the medical condition of the woman stabbed.
Both officers are on administrative leave.
The officers were wearing body cameras during the incident.
