A 48-year-old Janesville man takes a plea deal in two different sexual assault cases.
Joseph Cole Thomas, who lists his address as the Motel 6 in Janesville, was charged in Rock County Court last October with repeated sexual assault of a child after an eight-year-old reported Thomas had been molesting her for months.
In January, Thomas was charged in Rock County Court with third-degree sexual assault after a co-worker at a Janesville hotel reported she woke up to Thomas sexually assaulting her multiple times.
According to online court records Thomas pleaded guilty on Monday to second-degree sexual assault of a child. The court dismissed a charge of intimidating a victim.
Judge Derrick Grubb also dismissed a third-degree sexual assault charge.
Thomas faces up to 40 years in prison. His sentencing is August 16.
