The YMCA of Northern Rock County partners with the School District of Janesville on a new Esports program for youth ages 8 to 18.
Coach Brad Onsgard says Esports is competitive video gaming where children play games against teams in an organized competition or match. He says it helps students develop soft skills and qualities similar to traditional school athletics, including confidence building, sportsmanship, teamwork and discipline.
Onsgard says the Esports Tech Lab is equipped with 15 PCs, 6 Nintendo Switches and 1 PS5.
Registration is open for the next session of leagues and tournaments, which begin early June.
