Rock County Sheriff’s authorities say they’re investigating after they say they found a married couple dead in a town of Fulton home on Wednesday.

Details are scant, but sheriff’s officials say they arrived to a “check welfare” at a 2-acre property at 9909 N. Newville Rd. early Wednesday to find a husband and wife dead inside.

Police have not immediately said what might have killed the couple, how they might have died, or when, but they say police believe there are “no suspects,” and that the deaths were an “isolated incident inside the residence.”

In an earlier statement, the sheriff’s office said officers were called to the Newville Road property at 7:27 a.m. Wednesday to check the welfare of a resident or residents, but police say when they arrived, officers pivoted to a death investigation.

The sheriff’s office declined to say whether the residence was being considered a crime scene, and they haven’t given other information about the investigation, including the names of the two found dead.

Police say the public is in no danger.

A Big Radio news reporter on scene says one officer described the investigation as “big.” The reporter saw the 2-acre property fully cordoned off with yellow tape, along with a crime scene van backed up to the garage of a one-story ranch house on the property. It was one of two crime scene vans on site alongside about 15 other police vehicles lining the road, and a crime scene van from the state Department of Criminal Investigation.

The property is in a rural residential subdivision, with a number of neighboring properties in close proximity.
