Medical examiner releases name of man shot by Beloit Police May 16th

The Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office is releasing the name of the man who was shot to death by a Beloit Police Officer on May 16th.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Beloit Police responded to the report of a stabbing near the 2000 block of Frederick Street just before 3:30 p.m.

First responders found a female victim and observed 54-year-old Gregory Tracy of South Beloit armed with an edged weapon and making threats to harm a second individual believed to be in the residence.

After trying a less-lethal option an officer discharged their service weapon and struck Tracy, who died at the scene.

The Medical Examiner’s Office says the cause and manner of death are pending at this time and additional testing is underway.
