Group asking for protection of Social Security demonstrates in front of Janesville office

A group advocating for the expansion and protection of Social Security stood outside the local office in Janesville Tuesday afternoon.
American Federation of Government Employees President Jessica LaPointe says the Social Security Agency is severely under-staffed and under-funded, and a 27 year low in staffing has caused out of control work loads.
John Brower, who’s been retired for nearly 12 years, says millionaires and billionaires shouldn’t shy away from contributing more to Social Security.
Current projections anticipate the The Social Security retirement trust fund could be depleted by 2033.
