A brand new, $8 million aquatic center will officially open in Evansville Friday afternoon.
City Administrator Jason Sergeant says the old facility was nearly 60 years old and a resident feedback along with a study of the facility found they needed to make some upgrades.
Sergeant says the new center features a six-lane pool, aqua climbing wall, diving board, slides, zero-depth entry area, and accommodations for individuals of all ages and abilities.
A ribbon cutting ceremony takes place at 10am Friday, followed by tours and the pool officially opening at 3pm.
