U.S. Highway 14 is blocked in both directions from County Highway A to State Highway 92 for about four hours Wednesday due to a fatal SUV versus semi accident in the Dane County town of Rutland.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says witnesses reported that just before 10:00 a.m. the driver of an SUV was west on Old Stage Road when she pulled out in front of a semi truck that was traveling north on Highway 14.
The SUV driver was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.
Traffic was being re-routed to allow crash investigators to reconstruct the accident and collect evidence.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the name of the person who died in the crash after their family is notified.
