The Janesville City Council approves a change to how special events get their liquor licenses.
Under previous rules, class B temporary event licenses could be issued by the Alcohol License Advisory Committee, but the City Council had the option to review those decisions.
Under the new rules approved Monday night, temporary class B license would only go before the City Council if they are denied by the ALAC and the applicant appeals.
The change passed in a five to two vote with council members Heather Miller and Paul Williams dissenting.
