Details are scant, but Beloit police apparently arrested one person in a shooting reported on Beloit’s west side last week.
Local social media posts referred to the encounter as a “standoff” at the 1100 block of West Grand Avenue in the city’s Hackett neighborhood. That was about 10:15 p.m. June 29th.
Beloit police Chief Andre Sayles says in an email to Big Radio the incident was not a standoff.
Sayles says officers were called out to set up a “perimeter” around a house on West Grand. He says officers then called a person out of the house.
Sayles says the person was suspected in a shooting, but he did not give further details in the incident.
Social media posts say the police presence lasted less than half an hour before officers took someone in custody. No injuries were reported.
Big Radio has asked Beloit police for official reports on the shooting.
