Commercial tobacco has evolved over the years, from loose tobacco and regular cigarettes to menthols, chew, flavored cigars, orbs, and e-cigs.
One thing that hasn’t changed is the historic targeting and abuse of Black communities and others by the tobacco industry.
Youth2Youth 4 Change Director Debbie Fischer says an exhibit that opens Friday at the Beloit Public Library will examine the tobacco industry’s role in the birth and evolution of slavery. Fischer says it’s called “Same Game Different Smokers.”
The free exhibit will run through August 19th.
