A 42-year-old Beloit woman charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds appears poised to take a plea deal in Rock County Court.

According to the criminal complaint Danielle Reints had a gun holstered in plain view when she went to Van Buren Elementary School last September to pick up her boyfriend’s children.

After being placed into custody, Reints told police she thought she was allowed to carry a gun on school grounds because her ex husband who is a cop did so.

Police spoke with the boyfriend who said he told her not to take her gun to his children’s school.

According to online court records a plea and sentencing has been set for October 17th.

Reints remains free on a $1000 signature bond. She has several other open cases including two operating while intoxicated charges, disorderly conduct, bail jumping, and resisting arrest.
