Janesville firefighters are looking into the cause of an early morning fire on the city’s west side. Officials say firefighters were called to the 500 block of Waveland Road just after midnight Sunday. Firefighters say the attached garage was already ablaze and spreading into the attic of the home, but they were able to save the single story house. Officials say the occupants, a man and his grandson, were able to escape. The family’s cat was also later found alive. No one was reported hurt.
