Kwik Trip gets a $10-million boost from the federal government to install more alternative fuel pumps at its stations.
Those new pumps could be coming to a Kwik Trip near you.
The US Department of Agriculture says La Crosse-based gas station-convenience store chain Kwik Trip intends to install some new E-15 and B-20 pumps at its Janesville stations, among dozens of its 878 Midwest locations — including several in Wisconsin.
Overall, Kwik Trip hauled in about 10% of a 100-million-dollar USDA program to boost the use of ethanol and biodiesel fuels. The $10 million is the single largest award for any recipient in the USDA’s program.
The USDA says the new pumps would mean Kwik Trip selling an increase of $37 million in ethanol and biodiesel each year.
E-15 is gasoline blended with 15-percent ethanol, and it’s rated for use in flex-fuel and other vehicles. B-20 is a 20-percent blended biodiesel that’s rated for bigger vehicle engines.
