The city of Janesville is relaunching a program geared to make homeownership a little more accessible.
The Home Possible program provides forgivable loans of up to $10,000 to go toward down payments and closing costs for first-time homebuyers.
To qualify, buyers must meet income and credit score thresholds and have an accepted offer on a home in Janesville’s city limits. The price of the home may not exceed $229,000, and the home must pass an inspection from a federally certified inspector.
To have the loan forgiven, buyers must occupy the new home for five years. The funding comes from a federal home investment partnership fund.
More information can be found by searching “Home Possible” on the city’s website.
