The president of the Universities of Wisconsin will be in Whitewater next week.
Jay Rothman will talk about his 2025-27 budget request and how it will affect UW-Whitewater. The presentation will be in Hyland Hall’s Timmerman Auditorium at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
A 2023 analysis by the Wisconsin Policy Forum found the state ranked 43rd in the country in public support for four-year universities.
Wisconsin’s average spend per four-year student was $15,079, more than $2,000 below the national average, the analysis found. Rothman wants his budget to push Wisconsin closer to that average.
University officials say the new budget request will include an extension of the Wisconsin Tuition Promise, wage increases and investment in a new artificial intelligence hub.
