Authorities say four residents are displaced in Janesville after a fire burned through an upstairs bedroom of a Fourth Ward home on Friday afternoon.
The Janesville Fire Department reports firefighters arrived to smoke billowing from the attic of a two-story home at 809 W. Holmes St.
The fire broke out shortly before 2 p.m. Friday.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze with water. The cause is still under investigation, but the fire department says it caused $75,000 dollars in structural and property damage — mainly to the bedroom and attic space above.
The people displaced in the fire are tenants. The American Red Cross is helping them while their landlord repairs the damage.
