The 32-year-old Janesville man accused of killing two people in an intoxicated driving crash a week-and-a-half ago stands mute to the charges against him.
Koty Diaz appeared in Rock County Court Tuesday morning where he waived his right to a preliminary hearing on two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, two counts of knowingly operating with a revoked license causing death, and OWI second offense.
Court Commissioner Jack Hoag bound Diaz over for trial and entered not guilty pleas on his behalf.
According to the criminal complaint, Diaz was coming from the bar when he blew the red light at Beloit Avenue and Delavan Drive and struck a vehicle carrying 70-year-old Wayne Caswell and 52-year-old Gretchen Walbaum. Caswell and Walbaum died at the scene.
Diaz is currently being held in the Rock County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
