A bar on Janesville’s south side is lining up a conditional-use permit to add outdoor recreation options for its patrons.

Ed Quaerna, owner of Bucky’s Lucky Bell at 1804 Center Ave., wants to fence in the grassy area behind the bar building and add horseshoe pits, cornhole boards and outdoor seating.

The bar envisions holding horseshoe and cornhole tournaments during the spring, summer and fall.

Other planned additions include 66 more parking spaces and new tree plantings. No lighting or sound equipment would be part of the additions.

The permit application will be in front of the city Plan Commission during its meeting Tuesday night. City staff are recommending approval for the permit.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, the commission will schedule a public hearing on rezoning a parcel of green space along the Rock River at 533 N. Main St., the former Schuler Furniture site just south of Traxler Park.
