A strike may be on the horizon for the Van Galder bus drivers who transport Janesville students to and from school.
Members of Teamsters Local 120 apparently voted to authorize a strike last week.
Janesville School District Spokesperson Patrick Gasper says they are aware of continuing contract negotiations between the drivers and Van Galder owner Coach USA.
Gasper says Van Galder only transport about 10 percent of the district’s rural students, and they are confident the bus company has the student’s best interest in mind.
Gasper says a partnership with the Janesville Transit System allows Janesville students to ride city buses for free.
In June Coach USA announced plans to sell Van Galder Bus Company as party of bankruptcy proceedings.
