Authorities say they had to chase an intoxicated man to his house to arrest him after reports he was waving a gun outside a gas station in Beloit.
Beloit police say they arrested 21-year-old James R. Pulliam about 11:15 p.m. Monday. This was about four hours after people reported a man was making what authorities call “suspicious movements with a gun” outside the Casey’s General Store in the 2300 block of Cranston Road.
An officer says Pulliam was walking nearby and matched descriptions of the armed man. He ran when he saw police, and slipped into his home at the 2300 block of Shopiere Road, which is a few blocks from the Casey’s.
Police say Pulliam did not explain to police the gun incident outside the Casey’s, or why he ran from police, but they say he was intoxicated. A police tactical team arrested Pulliam at his house, where officers say they found a gun.
Pulliam is cited with felon possessing a firearm, resisting police, failure to comply with police in an arrest, and disorderly conduct with a weapon.
