The city of Janesville looks to reopen applications for Section-8 housing vouchers.
The city announced the move Wednesday, saying sign-ups for housing choice vouchers open Sept. 25 and run through Oct. 25.
The Section-8 program is for families with low incomes. It provides financial assistance for rent and utilities.
Income caps for eligibility vary based on family size. A family of four with a gross income of $43,300 or less meets the city’s income limit for the program.
The city says applicants must apply online only for consideration for the city’s waiting list for housing choice vouchers. A computer randomly picks places on the waiting list.
Preference is given to people who live or work within Janesville city limits.
