Democratic congressional candidate Peter Barca will be in Janesville this weekend.
Barca is running against Republican Rep. Bryan Steil in the First Congressional District, which includes the cities of Janesville, Beloit and Milton. Barca represented the First District in the mid-1990s and was a longtime state Assembly representative from southeastern Wisconsin.
He plans to join Democratic Rep. Mark Pocan of the neighboring Second Congressional District during a town hall-style meeting at the Janesville Dems office at 111 W. Milwaukee St. in downtown Janesville.
The two will discuss Project 2025, an agenda outline compiled by the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank. Democrats have tried to link former President Donald Trump with the project’s ideas amid his campaign for president.
Trump has repeatedly tried to distance himself from the document and its production.
