A town of Beloit condo plan moves closer to fruition.
On Wednesday, the township’s planning commission forwarded to the town board a plan for a 76-unit condominium development on 9.8 acres along Bartells Drive, just west of Turner High School.
LookAbel Construction of Beloit still needs to work out purchase and developer’s agreements with the township, but if the sides reach deals soon, the contractors hope to start construction in October or November.
The development will help the township meet demand for housing as the Turner School District nears its open enrollment cap, meaning students can only enroll if they live in the district’s borders.
The 76 units will be built as 19 four-unit structures. Tim Kienbaum, the town’s community development director, says the condos will be owner-occupied and not rental units.
