Three Rock County Jail inmates face battery-by-prisoner charges.
Malik Maratre-Harriel, 19, of Janesville; Jeremiah Tarver, 32, of Milwaukee; and Adam Wright, 34, of Beloit are accused of attacking another inmate in a cell last Monday night after the victim apparently slammed a shower door too loudly, waking others on the cell block.
The victim told responding officers that Maratre-Harriel and Tarver had been “running” the unit and bullying others. He said he went into Maratre-Harriel and Tarver’s cell to apologize.
The criminal complaint says Wright followed the victim into the cell. Surveillance footage shows the victim getting knocked to the ground; Wright stomping on the victim’s head, neck and shoulder area; and Tarver and Maratre-Harriel punching the victim.
Tarver and Maratre-Harriel said the victim punched Maratre-Harriel first.
