Big Lots plans to shed hundreds more stores as its bankruptcy woes continue.

So far, Janesville’s Big Lots store at 1800 Milton Ave. is not affected. But a new announcement in a Big Lots bankruptcy filing last week says Stevens Point’s Big Lots is now slated to close.

The bargain retail chain has reported that inflation has pummeled its business model and strained the middle-class demographic of consumers who shop at its stores.

The company already announced it planned to close 300 stores, including in Fond du Lac, La Crosse, Menominee Falls, Mount Pleasant and Neenah, according to earlier Big Radio reports.

Janesville’s Big Lots is still not listed among pending closures, but as part of Big Lots’ bankruptcy and its pending sale to a private equity group, the company says it’ll close 250 additional stores.

After those two waves of closures, the chain will have shuttered 40% of its 1,380 stores.
