You can help a local organization that helps at-risk children this weekend.
CASA of Rock County is hosting its fourth annual Fall Festival fundraiser at The Barn on Prairie on County G between Janesville and Beloit on Saturday, Oct. 5.
CASA, which stands for court-appointed special advocates, recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who work with children in the foster care system who have suffered abuse and neglect.
Volunteers act as companions for the kids they work with and they also produce court reports so judges know what is going on in the kids’ lives and what services they might need.
The upcoming festival will run from noon to 10 p.m. and will feature food trucks, live music and raffles. Kids activities such as face painting, crafts and carnival games will be available until 6 p.m.
