A consultant is recommending the City of Beloit build a new 68,000 square foot, $43 million police department.

Police Chief Andre Sayles says the study commissioned by the City Council found that the current 13,000 square foot space that’s been in use since 1983 is woefully inadequate.

In addition to lack of adequate space, there are approximately $1.2M in maintenance and code-related issues and deficiencies within the Police Department.

Representatives from Wold Architects will present their findings to the Beloit City Council during their regular meeting on Monday night.
