It’s not every day that the green, red, and purple lights of the Aurora Borealis are visible in southern Wisconsin.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center is forecasting active to very active Northern Lights Thursday night into Friday morning.

Beloit Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock says both Townview Park and Eagles Ridge Park will be open to midnight for sky-gazers looking to get a glimpse.

Beloit parks normally close at 10:00 p.m.

You can view the Aurora Borealis forecast at swpc.noaa.gov.
