Milton schools continue their unusual enrollment trend in the latest September headcount.
This year’s tally found 3,457 students in district buildings on September 20th, making it 10 Septembers in a row in which the district had between 3,400 and 3,500 students.
That steadiness is what’s unusual.
The prevailing trend for many public school districts, especially larger ones, has been declining enrollments during that time frame.
The latest data also showed a net open enrollment gain for the district with 443 students in and 381 students out.
Total enrollment figures are one data point the state uses to determine state aid. Those numbers for this school year were released (Tuesday) with Milton set to receive just more than $25 million over the course of the academic year, a 4.9% increase from 2023-24.
