Beloit man takes plea deal in shooting, armed robbery

A 45-year-old Beloit man accused in two shootings an an armed robbery takes a plea deal in Rock County Court.

According to online court records Maurice Citchen plead guilty Friday to possession of a firearm by a felon and robbery with use of a dangerous weapon.

Additional charges of two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, battery, and disorderly conduct were dismissed but read into the record.

Beloit police say officers responded to a shooting in the 1700 block of Royce Avenue back in June and found two homes had bullet damage.

While officers were investigating the shots fired call, a second call was reported for an armed robbery with the victim being assaulted in the 1300 block of Kenwood Avenue.

Through investigation, Citchen was identified as a suspect.

Judge Jeffrey Kuglitch sentenced Citchen to five years in prison and five years of extended supervision.
