Carl’s Place, the Milton manufacturer that specializes in golf simulation equipment, is leasing a tract of city land north of its Putman Parkway facility. The property will be kept as an outdoor test driving range for calibrating its golf simulation gear. The common council approved the lease at its meeting Wednesday night.
Company owner Carl Markestad says his company has done testing at local driving ranges but that it takes a long time to set up the gear. Having the space and the ability to keep equipment in place will help them maximize testing time. The terrain is flat there, too, which will make it easier to get accurate readings.
Carl’s Place will pay $1,200 a year to use the land for five years. The city will reserve the right to sell, develop or allow development of the land.
