A Whitewater murder suspect enters a not guilty plea.
Chad Richards, a former wrestler for UW-Whitewater suspected of killing former Warhawks gymnast Kara Welsh, pleaded not guilty in Walworth County Court on Friday afternoon, according to online court records.
Richards is accused of shooting Welsh multiple times and killing her in the heat of an argument at an apartment in downtown Whitewater.
He told police he took the gun from Welsh and fired out of fear for his life.
A status conference was scheduled for January 23rd.
