
Rock County works to reduce motor vehicle crashes on its highways with some federal funding.
The were 1400 crash on Rock County roads between 2017 and 2021, with 14 of them fatal.
Highway Commissioner Duane Jorgenson says a federal grant is allowing the county to evaluate its highway system.
Jorgenson says the County will also implement some new solutions in some of the most dangerous areas including high-friction surface treatment, wet reflective pavement markings, chevrons, and additional signage.
The $320,000 grant secured by Senator Tammy Baldwin is being funded by the U.S Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All program.
