Clinton man charged with crashing vehicle into house

A 28-year-old Clinton man is accused of crashing into a house in the town of Turtle while high on heroin.

According to the criminal complaint, the Rock County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home on East County Highway S on October 12th on the report that a vehicle had crashed into a house.

The arriving deputy found that the vehicle was beginning to catch fire, so he used several fire extinguishers to put it out.

While the deputy was fighting the fire, a witness observed the driver, Jacob Johnson throw a baggie of heroin into the bushes, which officers later retrieved.

Witnesses, reported that Johnson appeared to be going 100 miles per hour when he veered off the roadway and struck the home, which was occupied by two people.

Police say Johnson admitted to using heroin several hours before the crash.

Johnson is currently free on a signature bond for charges of possession of narcotic drugs and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
