The state’s school district accountability report cards for the 2023-24 school year were released Tuesday.
The Department of Public Instruction releases the report cards annually and assesses districts and schools on a 100-point, five-star scale in four areas. These are achievement, growth, target group outcomes and on track to graduation. Achievement and growth ratings are weighted based on a district or school’s percentage of economically disadvantaged pupils.
Rock County’s two largest public school districts, Janesville and Beloit, both had overall scores in the 50’s for a two-star rating, which indicates the districts met few expectations.
Eight of Janesville’s 20 schools exceeded expectations while two failed to meet expectations.
Four of Beloit’s 10 schools met expectations, and two failed to meet them.
Elsewhere in the county, the Edgerton School District exceeded expectations on its latest report card. It was the county’s only district to hit a four-star, exceeds expectations rating with an overall score of 71.6.
The rest of the county’s public school districts scored in the 60’s for a three-star, meets expectations rating. Those districts are Milton, Beloit Turner, Evansville, Orfordville Parkview, Clinton and Brodhead.
