A Beloit woman who was arrested in September 2023 after she brought a loaded gun onto the grounds of Janesville’s Van Buren Elementary School won’t spend any time behind bars.
In Rock County Court on Wednesday afternoon, Danielle Reints plead guilty to possession of a firearm on school grounds.
Judge Barbara McCrory sentenced Reints to two years of probation.
According to the criminal complaint, Reints’ gun was loaded with five bullets when she walked onto the school playground to pick up her boyfriend’s kids.
Reints’ attorney James Fitzgerald said that his client was new to gun ownership and kept the firearm on her person because she thought it was illegal to lock it in her vehicle.
