A suspect evades the Rock County Sheriff’s Office after a chase reaches speeds of over 150 mph on Interstate 39/90 on Tuesday night.
According to a sheriff’s office report, a deputy started following a white pickup truck at the Newville roundabout around 9 p.m. after observing the truck had excessive tint.
The deputy ran the license plate as the vehicle entered the southbound lanes of I-39/90, and it came back as expired with no vehicle associated with it, so he activated his emergency lights in an attempt to conduct a traffic stop.
The deputy chased the vehicle as it accelerated at a high rate of speed but discontinued the pursuit on the order of the on-duty sergeant once the speed reached 168 mph.
The deputy continued to follow the suspect vehicle until he lost sight of it when it shut off all its lights and continued at a high rate of speed.
