Rock County prosecutors seek five years in prison for one of two Beloit men accused in a fatal shooting last spring.
Assistant District Attorney Gerald Urbik told the court Thursday he doesn’t believe Terey Vance, 42, was the person who pulled the trigger at a home on the 1200 block of Dewey Avenue in Beloit the night of May 11.
Kevin Payne, 38, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, possession of a firearm by a felon and felony bail jumping.
Urbik says Vance agreed to to testify against Payne.
Vance pleaded guilty Thursday to a single count of harboring or aiding a felon. He was originally charged with party to first-degree intentional homicide. Sentencing is March 20.
Payne is due back in Rock County Court next month for a calendar call.
Nikita Green, 49, of Beloit died more than two months after the shooting at a care facility.
